COMMECT at Synergy Days 2024

The COMMECT project, now two years into its development, promoted its latest developments at the Synergy Days 2024 event in Barcelona. The event provided an opportunity to share the progress made within COMMECT’s five Living Labs, where digital technologies and innovative business models are being tested.

 

At Synergy Days 2024 in Barcelona, the COMMECT project hosted three workshops. Synergy Days brought together over 500 participants, 32 different projects, and included 41 workshops, making it one of the most important digital innovation events for the agri-food sector in Europe.

COMMECT hosted three workshops and had a dedicated booth at the exhibition, where we presented the project’s progress and engaged with participants that wanted to learn more about our project. Our project coordinator, Maria Rita Palattella, also took the stage to pitch the COMMECT project, discussing how it addresses the digital connectivity challenges faced by rural areas.

The first workshop was hosted by Daliborka Nedic from DunavNet and introduced the Decision Support Tool (DST), which provides farmers with expert, data-driven recommendations tailored to their specific needs. This tool demonstrates the practical ways in which digital innovation can be integrated into agricultural practices.

The second workshop focused on the socio-economic impact and business models developed within the project and was hosted by Per Jonny Nesse from Telenor and Kristiina Sau from TNO. The discussion centered around how collaborative business models can support rural farmers.

The final workshop, led by Maria Rita Palattella and Souhaima STIRI, focused on COMMECT's Living Labs, including those in Luxembourg, Türkiye, and Serbia. In particular, the Luxembourg Living Lab where low-cost sensors provide real-time micro-climate monitoring, helping farmers make decisions about disease forecasting and plant protection. In addition, Marcello Coppola shared his knowledge of AI in AgriFood Electronics, including EdgeAI tools used in French vineyards and the Smart Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge.
